About the role
This is an entry-level position for chemists. Initially, the chemist is assigned to training in various plant laboratories for a period of one to two months. The role is on-site in Erwin, TN.
Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of the responsibilities of each laboratory in the plant and how they function and interrelate.
- Understand the responsibilities of each department in the plant and their interrelationships.
- Investigate plant processes and develop a comprehensive understanding of them.
- Learn the work responsibilities for each labor unit in the plant.
- Become familiar with NFS' analytical methods/systems and determine their capabilities.
- Solve technical problems for analytical systems that are safe, efficient, cost-effective, and meet ALARA objectives.
Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Chemistry.
- One year or less of relevant experience.
- U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship (required for Department of Energy security clearance).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance, involving an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test, and employment reference verifications.
Pay
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee is $64,000 to $90,000 per year. The offered salary is based on local job market factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package may also include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits. Details will be provided at the time of offer.
