Chemical Operator - NIGHT SHIFT/Train on DAY Shift

Responsibilities

• Comply with all corporate and plant policies, procedures, guidelines, and work instructions pertaining to safety; attend all mandatory safety meetings and training sessions.
• Conduct plant operations in accordance with appropriate standard operating procedures.
• Intervene in potentially unsafe situations and unsafe acts; report any unsafe conditions, equipment, accidents, or injuries immediately.
• Have a working knowledge of the hazards and proper handling procedures of materials used on a regular basis.
• Inspect and ensure the safe operation of all tools and equipment used on the job.
• Perform manufacturing duties related to the production of bulk chemicals, including manual operations and computerized DCS system tasks.
• Follow established procedures to avoid environmental contamination and comply with proper waste disposal.
• Perform product/material sampling of hazardous chemicals per SOPs/work instructions.
• Weigh trucks, review shipping papers, and sign out shipments.
• Load bulk trucks and railcars, intermediate bulk containers, and obtain appropriate shipment samples.
• Receive and unload raw materials, both bulk and drums.
• Perform container labeling, weighing, and recording of all pertinent information.
• Conduct a thorough shift handover of all equipment and processing information; ensure assigned work is up-to-date and the work area is left neat and orderly.
• Operate powered industrial trucks.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent; completion of math courses preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the chemical industry preferred.
• Ability to perform duties independently.
• Knowledge and proficient use of computers.
• Understanding of safety and environmental rules and procedures preferred.
• Must complete Level I & II of Mapleton's Operator Certification Training Program.
• Mechanical aptitude to perform process equipment maintenance.

Pay

The expected salary for this role is $33.10 per hour USD. As a union role, there are salary increases every six months. In two years, the applicant would reach the top pay for this role. Training for this position is on day shift for 6 months, after which the role will be assigned to night shift with an additional $1.25 per hour shift differential.
