Chemical Operator I - $19/Hr

About the role

BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring Explosive Plant Operators in the Castables area at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport, TN. This is a permanent position. We are seeking detail oriented and highly motivated individuals to fill the role of Production Operator.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring equipment in operation buildings
• Weighing and sampling material
• Shoveling blend material
• Use of respirator
• Packaging
• Drying
• Transportation of material

Physical demands

• Working regularly with lightweight to average weight material
• Handling up to sixty (60) pounds
• Maneuvering drums
• Climbing multiple levels of stairs

Mental and visual demands

• Frequent mental and visual attention, where the flow of work is intermittent or the operation involves waiting for a machine or process to complete and cycle
• Process checking

Working conditions

• Somewhat disagreeable working conditions, exposed to seasonal conditions
• Coveralls, safety shoes, plus other PPE required in areas
• 12 hour rotating shifts
• Tobacco Free Facility

Required education, experience, and skills

• High School/GED
• Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong work ethic and organizational skills

Preferred experience and skills

• Experience in inventory movement
• Experience operating a PLC computer system
• Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
• Fork truck experience

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $32730 - $52369
