Job Summary
The Chemical Operator is responsible for manufacturing chemical products while ensuring compliance with company policies. Key responsibilities include:
- Incorporating safety and quality into every decision
- Effectively communicating with Supervisor and peers
- Operating chemical processes and equipment to produce quality products
- Seeking out and implementing process improvements
- Maintaining excellent communication skills
- Performing daily walk-throughs and audits
- Completing quality assurance checks and certificates of compliance
- Maintaining and reporting on plant equipment
- Completing shift reports and paperwork
- Working overtime and changing shifts as required
Roles And Responsibilities
The Chemical Operator oversees the safe and efficient operation of plant processes and equipment. Key duties include:
- Overseeing the safe transfer of hazardous chemicals
- Wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment
- Developing and applying process improvements
- Communicating with Supervisor and peers about process status
- Ensuring finished products meet specifications
- Completing Certificates of Compliance for loaded trailers
- Completing paperwork such as batch sheets, run sheets, and shift reports
- Maintaining and communicating in Daily Management practices
- Performing physical labor and changing shifts as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Planning skills to prioritize daily operations
- Paying attention to detail
- Knowledge of chemical manufacturing and equipment
- Dependability and flexibility
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to obtain Fork Lift certification within 30 days of hiring
- Ability to learn the chemical operator position within 60 days of hiring
Essential Functions
- Participate in site respirator program and pass Spirometry test
- Lift up to 75 lbs. throughout the shift
- Stand for 80% of the shift
- Traverse the site to various buildings
- Traverse ship ladders, catwalks, and close quarters
- Work at elevated platforms without hesitation or fear
- Work inside confined spaces as needed
