Chemical Operator

Clean Harbors Linden, NJ is seeking Solvent Process Operators to join their team at an environmentally friendly solvent recycling facility.

About the Role

Team members will learn to complete tasks such as distillation, filtration, and blending. A boiler license is a plus, and knowledge of distillation following SOPs, emissions compliance, and safety-minded practices is required.

Schedule

Alternating shift schedule: 2 weeks on days (6 AM–6 PM) followed by 2 weeks on nights (6 PM–6 AM), with a 3/2 split.

Pay

$24/hour with an additional $1.75 shift differential for night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes
• Offload inbound tankers and perform distillation as instructed by the laboratory
• Sample trucks for laboratory testing
• Complete daily checklists for proper operation of distillation units
• Perform daily maintenance duties and report any issues with distillation units immediately
• Operate distillation units safely and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Ensure processing units operate according to issued guidelines and process specifications
• Decant material, pump off excess sludge, and perform washouts between batches to prevent cross-contamination
• Review and comply with all applicable SOPs and pass associated quizzes
• Complete and submit paperwork for waste tracking and scanning applications
• Adhere to all Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures
• Understand and comply with area-specific permit requirements
• Maintain a clean work environment and accurate logs/run sheets
• Monitor tank levels using gauges and PLC equipment, checking high-level alarms and pumps
• Understand Clean Compliance Standards
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Must be 18 years or older
• 1+ years of related experience
• Forklift experience preferred (not required)
• Ability to use a computer
• Ability to lift 50 or more pounds
