About the role
The Chemical Plant Operator at the North Charleston Plant plays a crucial part in a highly engaged team that produces essential chemicals like emulsifiers, rosin, TOFA, and lignin. The plant, established in 1948, employs approximately 200 team members, and starting wages for hourly positions range from $23.72 to $25.35 after a probationary period. The role involves 12-hour rotating shifts with potential for overtime.
Responsibilities
- Follow Daily Operating Instructions
- Record relevant information in log sheets at the end of the shift
- Keep Shift Facilitator, Supervisor, and/or area Engineers up-to-date on issues/concerns
- Perform Lock Out Tag Out as necessary
- Ensure environmental permits are satisfied
- Keep work area clean
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of industrial manufacturing experience
- Two years of equivalent college training or technical certification
- Any direct experience working at an Ingevity chemical manufacturing facility in shipping or similar operations
- Strong math skills commensurate with the job requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in using computers
- Ability to think ahead and coordinate tasks proactively
- Ability to manage situations under pressure
- Standing for prolonged periods, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs as needed
Qualifications
