Chemical Operator
About the role
This job is diverse in the mechanical ability to perform general plant operator duties. The Chemical Operator is an integral part of our production team and will be responsible for the overall chemical production process. This will include weighing, mixing chemical ingredients, monitoring equipment and the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Perform chemical manufacturing operations in a safe and effective manner.
- Record information, such as ingredients, weights, and temperature, and input into database.
- Monitor and control pressure and temperature of chemical process equipment.
- Operate plant equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Handle, transport and process chemicals safely.
- Document plant processes and record production data.
- Operate tank truck and railcar vessel opening, loading and unloading of product, operation of pumps, piping and valves.
- Troubleshoot issues with production equipment and processes.
- Plant inventory record keeping.
- Operation of the following mobile equipment: Backhoe, Trackmobile, Forklifts, and other mobile equipment.
- Daily plant upkeep and daily maintenance.
- Able to perform daily housekeeping duties.
- Work in 100-degree ambient temperatures while wearing Protective Personal Protection.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and also lift (within OSHA guidelines).
- Ability to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14 – 16-hour days for emergency operations/repairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience working in chemical manufacturing or manufacturing/production.
- Experience working with forklifts preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate experience using Microsoft programs, maintenance management systems and email.
- Aptitude for mechanics.
- Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14 – 16-hour days for emergency operations/repairs.

- Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes.
- Ability to operate various types of machinery and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Pay
The hourly rate is $30. The range shown reflects the targeted pay scale. Actual pay within the range depends on work location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. Specific salary details can be discussed during the hiring process. Posted compensation reflects base salary only and excludes bonuses, benefits, pension contributions, and other incentives.
Schedule
This job consists of outside elements where radiant heat or cold is normal work environment, and rotating shifts. Following all plant safety guidelines such as: Confined Space, Working with heights Management of Change, Hot Work and Operating Procedures.
