Chemical Operator
About the role
The Opportunity Avantor is looking for a Chemical Operator to pack bulk chemicals into containers by pouring, using pumps, weigh scales, and filling equipment. Additional tasks include labeling, torquing of closures, carton/case sealing, palletization, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Responsibilities
- Performs manufacturing activities by adhering to a defined set of procedures and standard outputs to ensure consistent production quality.
- Fits, aligns, calibrates, and adjusts parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product requirements.
- Weights and fills chemicals or bulk products in accordance with BPR.
- Operates production scales, including verifications and calibrations.
- Sets up, operates, cleans, and maintains the equipment.
- Packages finished product for customers including labeling, sealing, and inspections per Work Instructions.
- Manages hazardous materials using all appropriate or mandatory safety gear.
- Completes documentation in a legible manner; verifies and reviews for accuracy.
- Maintains expected quality and quantity of work.
- Follows cGMP policies and procedures for handling, storing, packing, manufacturing, and distributing products.
- Supports co-workers in their job responsibilities and are expected to work as a team player.
- Maintains good vision required for close-up and peripheral tasks.
- Maintains quality of products and raw materials.
- Communicates with colleagues within manufacturing to exchange information, providing explanations or interpretations as necessary to maintain alignment and efficiency.
- Ensures compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and operational guidelines to support seamless manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Education: High School completion or equivalent (GED).
- Experience: 1 – 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a chemical plant or food and beverage industry.
- Preferred Qualification: Adhere to all safety precautions and PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements while completing the assigned duties in a safe manner. Demonstrated mechanical ability, basic math skills, and familiarity with RCRA and cGMP regulations. Experience in chemical handling, storage, and safety protocols. Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem analysis skills. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), preferred. Critical decision-making skills, creativity, multi-tasking ability. Strong interpersonal communication skills including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Forklift Experience is a plus.

Pay
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $39,500.00 - $63,250.00. Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
