About the Role

Responsible for the receipt, maintenance of records, and inventorying of controlled wastes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a CRT to maintain records for excess property, precious metals, hazardous wastes, and classified scrap.
  • Receive and inventory excess property, precious metals, radioactive wastes, hazardous wastes, and classified scrap.
  • Operate the hazardous material tank farm, mixing crib, and staging areas; conduct inspections and maintain inventory and inspection records for hazardous waste operations.
  • Perform emergency chemical spill cleanup.
  • Conduct precious metal recovery operations.
  • Issue supplies and containers to operating departments.
  • Clean up controlled materials and decontaminate as required.
  • Pump controlled waste to and from tanks, sumps, and pits; clean transfer equipment involved.
  • Use tools and equipment necessary for task performance, including minor routine maintenance.
  • Work from written or oral instructions and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Perform duties of the Material Handler classification as required.
  • Tear down products and assemblies designed for destruction using equipment such as disintegrators, shredders, hammer mills, and hand tools.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship (required for DOE Q-level security clearance).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work any shift.
  • Pass professional certification examination.
  • Meet all required medical PPE and respirator requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance (dual citizenship may affect eligibility).

Qualifications

  • Experience with chemical compatibilities and characteristics, spill cleanup, decontamination procedures, segregation of controlled waste, and emergency response procedures.
  • Fork truck experience in a manufacturing setting.
