Chemical Engineering Intern
About the role
Arthrex, a global medical device company, offers a manufacturing support internship for a Chemical Engineer in Lasermarking, Cleaning and Passivation operations at the AMIE facility. The internship focuses on gaining experience with laser marking, laser cutting, robotic systems, and chemical characterization of medical devices in contact with process fluids. Interns will work on process fluid characterization of cleaning processes and fixture development for new medical products in cleaning and passivation operations, requiring a strong chemical and mechanical skill set. The internship runs from May 2027 to August 2027, with an expectation of 40 hours per week at the Ave Maria, FL facility.
Responsibilities
- Laser durability in Passivation Operations for PASCLN process.
- Chemical characterization of medical devices in solvent cleaning.
- Cleaning of I&R devices using laser cutting techniques.
- Optimization of existing fixtures for Cleaning Processes.
- Documentation of Process Parameters in Process clean systems.
- Feasibility of substitution of existing solvents for backup systems.
Requirements
Progress towards a college degree in chemical engineering is required. Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.
Skills
- Basic to intermediate computer skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal direction.
- Familiarity with Dichloroethylene based solvents and laser marking processes (preferred).
- Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with fax and scanner equipment.
