Chemical Engineering Co-Op Student - Year Round

About the role

As a Chemical Engineering Co-op Student, you will participate in a twelve-month assignment beginning September 2026, rotating within the facility through two different areas such as Explosives Manufacturing, Acids Manufacturing, and Design/Project Engineering. You will work as part of the manufacturing team, receiving projects designed to provide increasing levels of responsibility and exposure. This role offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, including engineering calculations, reading diagrams, and interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams to support manufacturing operations.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) onsite position at our Kingsport, TN facility, running from September 2026 through August 2027. Relocation assistance may be offered, but housing is not provided.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a twelve-month co-op assignment with rotations through two different manufacturing or engineering areas.
• Work as part of the manufacturing team, receiving projects that provide increasing responsibility and facility exposure.
• Gain experience in a manufacturing environment, including engineering calculations and reading diagrams.
• Interface with multi-disciplinary teams to support manufacturing operations.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Person due to the nature of our business.
• Currently enrolled or recently graduated in an undergraduate program seeking a degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
• Completed at least 3 semesters of school.
• Available for one year of full-time employment.
• Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of chemical engineering.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of the first semester of junior or senior year at the time of co-op start.
• Experience with AFT Arrow.
• Background in safety applications.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $36,540 – $49,320. Individual salaries are determined by factors including, but not limited to, business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
