Chemical Analyst

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Chemical Analyst provides technical leadership in the laboratory and participates in daily laboratory tasks that directly support key production and quality system activities and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Master current chemistry sample preparation and analysis using existing laboratory equipment and procedures.
• Provide technical and procedural refinement for laboratory methods to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop methods for analytical chemistry instruments.
• Demonstrate technical leadership to enhance the knowledge base for laboratory technician staff.
• Compile data from plant operations including laboratory-generated chemistry and other test results.
• Assist with the management of calibration systems.
• Take an active role in the creation and improvement of quality system documents (procedures, forms, etc.).
• Contribute to preparation for aerospace, customer, and other audits.

Requirements

• Two- or four-year degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a natural science discipline; or one to two years or more of analytical laboratory experience in the listed duties and responsibilities.
• One or more years of commercial experience with inorganic chemical analysis methods including sample preparation.
• Method development for chemical analysis instruments is essential.
• Experience with common metallographic methods and grain size measurement is a plus.
• Familiarity with or exposure to aerospace quality systems such as AS9100 and Nadcap.
