Duties
- Complete final preparation and cooking of Lunch & Dinner menu items
- Prepare meals according to recipes, dietary requirements, and resident preferences
- Maintain meals on time and present them attractively
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and food temperatures throughout service
- Accommodate special dietary needs as directed by the Dining Services Manager
- Assist with meal plating and service as needed
Responsibilities
- Prepare any remaining food preparation required for dinner service
- Prepare items for the following day's meal production as assigned
- Label, date, and properly store food products
- Rotate inventory using proper FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures
- Clean and sanitize all food preparation surfaces
- Sweep and mop kitchen and storage areas
- Empty trash and recycling containers
- Properly store all food items and secure refrigeration units
- Complete closing checklists and report maintenance or supply issues
- Leave the kitchen clean, organized, and prepared for the next day's operation
Qualifications
- Previous cooking, restaurant, or institutional food service experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, push, and pull as required in a commercial kitchen environment
