About the role

The Instructor for Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) facilitates courses in AESCA's curriculum, focusing on student success and engaging learners through adult education best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Engages students to achieve course learning objectives using adult education best practices and maintaining academic integrity.
  • Coaches struggling students by creating success plans and partnering with others to support their academic progress.
  • Communicates professionally and respectfully with students and colleagues, providing excellent customer service.
  • Shares industry perspectives and stays updated on professional/industry trends and opportunities.
  • Provides additional value to the course material by owning the course information and offering personal insights.
  • Achieves scheduled timelines for outreach, communication, feedback, and task completion as outlined by the Academic Leadership Team.
  • Attends scheduled meetings, workshops, and faculty meetings.
  • Serves as a resource for the Academic Leadership Team with course or program-related tasks and inquiries.
  • Supports the Registrar’s Office with accurate student record maintenance.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate Degree in applicable occupational area or 2+ years full-time equivalent (4,000 hours) employment experience in the occupational teaching area, or 5+ years full-time equivalent (10,000 hours) employment experience without formal education.
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience in online or residential settings preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified Executive Chef (CEC), Certified Executive Pastry Chef (CEPC) or other applicable industry certifications preferred.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google applications, and video conferencing.

Physical Demands

The role requires significant computer, video conference, and phone work daily, including sitting for long periods. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is necessary.

Working Conditions

Majority of the work is performed in a remote/home office location. Must maintain a private, quiet, distraction-free environment free of pets, adults, and children. Student-facing work must be done while wearing Escoffier-branded attire.

Pay and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $58,000 - $60,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors per applicable law. The position qualifies for the following benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life, voluntary life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement program with an employer match, enhanced employee assistance program, PTO, and 11 paid holidays.
