About the role
Bongards is expanding its Perham, MN facility and is looking for full-time Cheese Packagers, primarily for PM shifts. This role offers a unique schedule with alternating 3- and 4-day workweeks, employee empowerment, and opportunities for advancement. The majority of the leadership team in Perham started as production employees.
The PM shift runs from 6 PM to 6 AM. Teams work opposite schedules: one team works every Monday and Tuesday, while the other works the opposite days, splitting weekends. Below is a sample schedule for the Monday-Tuesday rotation:
- Week 1: Sun (Off), Mon (6:00 PM), Tue (6:00 PM), Wed (Off), Thu (Off), Fri (6:00 PM), Sat (6:00 PM)
- Week 2: Sun (6:00 PM), Mon (6:00 PM), Tue (6:00 PM), Wed (Off), Thu (Off), Fri (Off), Sat (Off)
- Week 3: Sun (Off), Mon (6:00 PM), Tue (6:00 PM), Wed (Off), Thu (Off), Fri (6:00 PM), Sat (6:00 PM)
- Week 4: Sun (6:00 PM), Mon (6:00 PM), Tue (6:00 PM), Wed (Off), Thu (Off), Fri (Off), Sat (Off)
- Week 5: Sun (Off), Mon (6:00 PM), Tue (6:00 PM), Wed (Off), Thu (Off), Fri (6:00 PM), Sat (6:00 PM)
- Week 6: Sun (6:00 PM), Mon (6:00 PM), Tue (6:00 PM), Wed (Off), Thu (Off), Fri (Off), Sat (Off)
Responsibilities
- Operate block towers, barrel line, and related equipment.
- Use forklift to transfer barrels to the cooler.
- Operate boxer and related equipment.
- Monitor the quality of blocks being formed.
- Perform all necessary sanitation procedures for this position, including sanitation of towers, DMM, barrel line, and related equipment.
- Provide breaks to the DMM operator.
- Maintain floor sanitation and cleanliness of other work-related areas.
- Keep clear, accurate, and timely records.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Uphold the plant’s commitment to customer expectations and quality.
- Report all quality, food safety, and employee safety concerns to the immediate supervisor or designated replacement.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor or lead.

Pay
Starting pay is $26.27 per hour, with increases in the first year bringing the rate to $27.85 after one year. A shift differential of $1.20 per hour applies to all night shifts.
