Description

The Cheese and Bread Lead is responsible for overseeing all vendor purchases for the Cheese and Bread Departments while fostering and maintaining strong vendor relationships. This role ensures timely and accurate inventory replenishment daily, utilizing systems such as HL software, auto-order, cycle counts, and data reports to meet the company’s purchasing needs and budgetary goals. Through effective management, the Cheese and Bread Department consistently maintains a dynamic inventory and upholds a clean, well-organized space. Additionally, this position involves training new staff members on all department procedures and acting as a key resource for the Category Manager (CM) by providing valuable insights, observations, and guest feedback and insight.

Requirements

  • DEGREE: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: At least 2 years working in a professional retail environment; preferably in the grocery or natural foods industry
  • Previous buying, inventory management or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience with cheese cutting & wrapping, preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of State and Federal Health Department standards for both health and sanitation
  • Passionate and knowledgeable of the products in the respective categories
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Teams, XL, Email, Catapult and others)
  • Ability to navigate through ordering systems with ease
  • Meet strict deadlines / Strong time management skills
  • An ability to make informed decisions quickly and effectively
  • Organizational, problem-solving skills; resourcefulness
  • Purchases responsibly and thoughtfully
  • Interacts regularly and effectively with Receiving dept, stockers and Category Managers
  • Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the department, consisting of early mornings, weekends and holidays
  • Proficient knife skills and an ability to cut a variety of cheese
