Cheerleading Assistant Coach

Job Summary

Saint Ignatius College Prep seeks a mission-driven Assistant Cheerleading Coach to help guide the vision, culture, and operations of the cheerleading program in support of the Head Coach. The ideal candidate brings strong communication and cheerleading knowledge, along with a passion for developing student-athletes in mind, body, and spirit – reflecting the Jesuit mission of forming "men and women for others."

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and directing practices, performances, and competitions in alignment with the school's mission and values.
• Help foster a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team culture that supports the growth of student athletes academically, athletically, and personally.
• Collaborate effectively with the Head Coach, Athletic Department, families, and school community to ensure strong communication, program operations, and overall program success.

Required Qualifications

• Strong teaching, leadership, and organizational qualities with assisting in a competitive and comprehensive interscholastic cheerleading program.
• Ability to foster an environment that supports a strong work ethic and the appropriate behavior and sportsmanship of all participants.
• Great passion for cheerleading and the overall high school athletics experience.
• Ability to effectively and positively communicate with student-athletes, administration, parents, and coaches.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous coaching and/or cheer experience is preferred but not required.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with student athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals, technique, and safety practices.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor student-athletes and collaborate effectively with the school community.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required during the athletic season.
• Ability to actively lead practices, games, and performances in indoor and outdoor athletic environments.
• Ability to stand, demonstrate skills, spot stunts, and lift/move equipment as needed.

Compensation and Schedule

• Seasonal, part-time position for the cheerleading season.
• Evening and weekend availability required for practices, games, performances, and team events.
• Salary Range: ~$3,500 (per season).
