The Florida Department of Education issues two types of Athletic Coaching Certificates: 3-Year Temporary Certificate (Issued ONLY to give a coach the opportunity to complete the requirements for the 5-Year Certificate. It is NOT renewable.) 5-Year Athletic Coaching Certificate WHO NEEDS IT? • Coaches who are paid a supplement from the school District but DO NOT hold a Temporary or Professional Educator Certificate. • Volunteer Coaches who are employees of the Collier County Public Schools, but do not hold a Temporary or Professional Educator’s Certification.
