Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting customers, learning their names, and addressing them by name.
• Assists customers with various tasks such as escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Operates cash register accurately, scanning products, redeeming coupons, issuing rain checks, completing credit card transactions, counting change, and issuing receipts.
• Plants merchandise in bags or boxes, gives packages to customers, and assists courtesy personnel as needed.
• Answers customer questions and concerns and follows up with appropriate personnel.
• Understands and follows local, state, and company policies on sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets.
• Stocks, faces, rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, understands shelf tags, and maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.

• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Qualifications

• Must be able to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions; deal with a few concrete variables.
• Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing.
