About the role

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
• Escorts customers to products, secures items, loads/unloads heavy items, and passes along customer suggestions or requests
• Answers the telephone and provides friendly, helpful service to customers
• Operates cash register accurately, scans product, redeems coupons, issues rain checks, completes credit card transactions, counts change, and issues receipts
• Plants merchandise in bags or boxes, gives packages to customers, and assists courtesy personnel as needed
• Answers customer questions and concerns and follows-up with appropriate personnel
• Understands and follows local, state, and company policies on sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets
• Stocks, faces, rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, understands shelf tags, and maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time
• Assists store management as required (i.e., store displays, decorations for special promotions/events)
• Changes register tape and ribbons as necessary
• Performs other job related duties and special projects as required

Qualifications

No education or experience requirements. Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages. Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform these tasks in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
