About the role

Complete troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance on chassis products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians. We are looking for a talented Chassis Technician to join our Distribution business in Coburg, OR. We offer sign-on bonus, relocation, competitive pay and benefits!

Will make an impact in the following ways

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and complex repairs on chassis and related vehicle systems.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and inspections on chassis components to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
  • Utilize electronic diagnostic tools, service manuals, and other technical resources to accurately identify and resolve issues.
  • Complete service documentation, work orders, warranty claims, and repair records accurately and timely.
  • Coach and support junior technicians and apprentices by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, tools, and equipment.
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain and expand technical skills.

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with chassis systems, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to perform complex troubleshooting and repairs using electronic service tools and diagnostic software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, fuel, cooling, exhaust, aftertreatment, driveline, and control systems.
  • Experience documenting repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance activities in service management systems.
  • Ability to provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to less experienced technicians.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL may be required upon hire. Federal law requires CDL holders to be at least 21 years of age.
  • Apprentice Trained Technician certification preferred.
  • Work well in a team environment.

Education, licenses, certifications

  • Apprentice Trained Technician (Preferred).
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.
  • Locally valid driving permit.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with chassis products.
  • Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred).
