Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered, active RN license in this state
  • Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents served
  • Ability to function as a supportive team member and exemplify teamwork
  • Tact and professionalism when dealing with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, agencies, and the public
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines pertinent to nursing care facilities
  • Leadership and supervisory ability with willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
  • Ability to relate resident condition information effectively
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical/drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate performance, initiate disciplinary actions, and complete performance evaluations for personnel
  • Perform nursing assessments and collaborate with the nursing team, other disciplines, patients, and families to develop effective plans of care
  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to ensure quality care
  • Establish realistic, measurable short- and long-term patient goals with interventions to minimize rehospitalizations and ongoing outcome evaluation
  • Administer medications and perform treatments per physician orders
  • Delegate patient care responsibilities to staff and supervise task and intervention implementation
  • Communicate patient information with assigned staff and between shifts
  • Function independently with flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
  • Relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile individuals within the facility
  • Assist in resident evacuation during emergency situations
