Charge Reconciliation Specialist

About the role

The Charge Reconciliation Specialist supports patients and community members interfacing with UP Health System - Marquette's facilities, driving quality and impact through their work.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all billing charges are captured accurately in the billing system.
• Accurately and timely inputs patient encounter charges into the billing system.
• Resolves assigned edits and batch maintenance issues.
• Collaborates with department managers and leadership to improve charging processes.
• Monitors and maintains the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of charge entry.

Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Coding and Billing program or related training.
• Associate degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years of medical billing and coding experience.
• Experience working with electronic medical records systems.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and CMS requirements and standards.

Qualifications

• Competent in using medical record systems, specifically EPIC.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

• Identifies and analyzes billing errors or omissions.
• Prepares and posts charges to appropriate accounts.
• Scans and prepares batches for data entry.
• Collects and tracks detailed data for charge entry.
• Resolves specific front-end edits and batch maintenance issues.
