Charge Nurse- Team Lead

Assist the Nursing Supervisor on weekend shifts with total patient care and management of the nursing unit. LPN pay range: $29–$34; RN pay range: $35–$42, based on experience and licensure. Additional shift differentials offered for evening and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Carry out administrative and patient-care duties during assigned shift.
• Supervise and assume responsibility for care delivered by STNAs.
• Interpret and apply department policies to personnel, medical staff, patients, and the public.
• Work on the unit designated by the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or Supervisor.
• Review 24-hour report sheet for daily patient-care updates.
• Conduct walking rounds and supervise nursing-assistant care.
• Administer medications (including IV) and treatments per physician orders.
• Address patient spiritual and psychological needs with available resources.
• Assist and direct patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.

Administrative Duties

• Give and receive shift-change reports to oncoming staff.
• Take and transcribe physician orders.
• Answer telephone inquiries.
• Evaluate patient needs, condition, and develop or update individual care plans.
• Handle patient admission when documentation nurse is unavailable (verify orders, transcribe pre-admission data, arrange diagnostics/therapies, order medications/treatments, communicate dietary needs, complete admission paperwork).
• Coordinate patient transfers and discharges (arrange transportation, communicate with family, prepare discharge paperwork).
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.

General Unit Duties

• Direct and assist with department cleaning and care of equipment/appliances.
• Communicate and collaborate with all departments.
• Ensure overall safety and cleanliness of the unit.
• Greet and direct visitors on the unit.

Requirements

• Valid nursing license in the state where the facility is located.
• Meet state-required continuing education hours per licensure period.
• Good physical and mental health.
• Sincere desire to work with the elderly.
• Willingness to perform non-professional duties.
• Ability to remain level-headed and give or take direction in emergencies.
• Commitment to placing patient needs above personal desires or judgment.
• Serve as a patient advocate at all times.
