The Charge Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care. Aligned with Nursing Leadership, the Charge Nurse provides leadership by working in collaboration with medical, ancillary, and support staff in maintaining standards of nursing practice in the clinical setting. The Charge Nurse serves as a clinical and leadership resource and role model for the staff.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the delivery of nursing care.
- Provide leadership by collaborating with medical, ancillary, and support staff.
- Maintain standards of nursing practice in the clinical setting.
- Serve as a clinical and leadership resource and role model for the staff.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of application.
- Current BLS certification.
- ACLS certification: preferred initially, required after 90 days of employment (and required from day 1 for Charge Nurses in High Obs and ICU).
Qualifications
- One year of inpatient medical‑surgical nursing experience preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in emergency or critical care environments preferred.
- Higher comfort level working with vents, trachs, PICC lines, etc., preferred.
- Two years of experience in direct patient care preferred.
