Charge Nurse - Psych Emergency- Weekend Option
About the Role
Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and functions as advisor, resource, and leader for other members of the patient care team. The role involves working in the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) and 4A unit, which provide general, acute care for inpatient adults suffering from mental or behavioral health issues. The 4A unit has a capacity of 12 beds, while the BHU has a census capacity of 23 beds. Patients may be depressed, schizophrenic, or struggle with substance abuse or mood disorders.
Staff may also work in one of two 6-bed areas of the ER, referred to as North Pod and West Pod, which can house adults, adolescents, or children in acute psychiatric crisis. The majority of nursing staff cross-train to all three areas. Staff must be positive, outgoing, and utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status.
Requirements
- Formal working knowledge equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years of college); requires knowledge of a specialized field
- 2 or more years of experience in a clinical specialty
- Nursing Certification of specialty area within 3-5 years of hire
- 1-3 years of experience
- Maryland Registered Nurse License
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
Pay
Pay Range: $40.12 to $62.19 (based on experience)
