About the role
The LPN Charge Nurse oversees the daily activities of nursing aides and other LPNs, providing guidance, support, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. They administer medications, monitor vital signs, provide direct care, collaborate on care plans, maintain accurate documentation, communicate effectively, assist in staff training, respond to emergencies, participate in quality assurance, manage medications, ensure compliance, and demonstrate compassion.
Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing aides and LPNs
- Administer medications and monitor vital signs
- Provide direct resident care
- Collaborate on and implement individualized care plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Communicate with residents, families, and healthcare team
- Assist in staff orientation and training
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Order and manage medications
- Maintain a safe and clean environment
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
- At least 1-2 years of nursing experience
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with state regulations and nursing home policies
- Ability to assess situations quickly and act accordingly
- Commitment to ongoing education and training
- Caring attitude towards elderly patients and their families
Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid LPN license from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of nursing experience
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Communication Skills: Effective communication skills
- BLS Certification: Current CPR certification
- Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with state regulations and nursing home policies
- Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess situations quickly and act accordingly
