Charge Nurse: Irvine Cancer Outpatient Treatment Center

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises clinical and job performance of staff on assigned shifts in a Medical and/or Surgical department.
  • Plans, coordinates, and provides optimum patient care on the unit.
  • Manages schedules and patient assignments.
  • Delivers annual evaluations and counseling conversations.
  • Provides direct patient care when relieving nurses.
  • Maintains the Standards of Nursing Care and provides care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Utilizes the nursing process based on research and evidence-based outcomes.
  • Makes recommendations on hiring, department budgets, and trainings.
  • Serves as a leader in the department.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: BSN required; MSN preferred at Magnet designated facilities.
  • Additional Requirements: 3 years Oncology Infusion experience required for Oncology Infusion positions; no experience required for non-Oncology Infusion positions.
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing.
  • Certifications: Current BLS certification prior to clinical rotation. Department-specific certifications required as follows:
    • Oncology Infusion: Chemotherapy/biotherapy Cert. (ONSONC).
    • Non-Oncology Infusion: No specific certification required.
