Charge Nurse III - Barranca Surgery Center

Responsibilities

• Treats a limited number of patients.
• Maintains a high level of patient care.
• Evaluates other nurses.
• Acts as an educational resource for nurses.
• Oversees the GI department.
• Supervises and assists the nursing staff in the operating room.
• Provides administrative support and patient care.
• Directs the admission, discharge and general flow of patients into the operating room.
• Sets up and breaks down operating rooms.
• Assigns nurses and support staff to patients/rooms.
• Develops and implements training courses and organizes needs assessment.
• Creates schedules, maintains adequate supplies and informs staff of changes to protocol.
• Assumes named nurse/link nurse responsibilities.
• Reports any injuries, disease and dangerous practice to all relevant personnel.
• Challenges poor practice and provides guidance for improving practice.
• Deals with matters arising in the team with a view to settlement as opposed to escalation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Current license to practice professional nursing in the State required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
• PALS/ACLS (can be obtained).
