About the role

As a Charge Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab, your voice influences patient care through open, collaborative relationships with your manager and formal opportunities via hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

The Charge Nurse ensures and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinates all unit functions during the designated shift. In collaboration with the management team, you'll direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with policies, serve as a resource for staff, and model the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Participates in ongoing assessment of patient care services in collaboration with the management team.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts and managers to foster teamwork and improve outcomes and service.
• Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
• Operationalizes nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives to improve engagement.
• Provides recommendations for interviewing, selecting, and training new staff.
• Recommends and implements actions such as training, conflict resolution, policy compliance, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures to build a stronger organization.
• Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor in accordance with patient care needs and productivity guidelines.
• Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• Current Florida license as a Registered Nurse or recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements).
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in a Charge Nurse role preferred.
