Chaplain (Relief/0 budgeted hours) - Flagstaff, AZ

Responsibilities

• Provides a calming and supportive presence at all times.
• Presents with patients, patients’ family, and caregivers during the end of life situations.
• Assesses patients/families for spiritual care needs and matches needs with appropriate support.
• Provides supportive spiritual care to people facing a personal crisis (death of a child, suicide, drug overdose, mental health issues, drug and alcohol dependency, serious illness and acute trauma).
• Serves as a member of the Palliative Care Team and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams for patient/family support and service recovery.
• Trains and supports relief Chaplains, Chaplain Assistants, Native Healer and volunteers.
• Demonstrates the ability to provide appropriate spiritual care to all people.
• Shares on-call and holiday coverage.
• Attends Palliative Care rounds and meetings.
• Documents in EMR to address patient and family spiritual care issues.
• Serves as a Chaplain Services team member and collaborates to enhance patient care.
• Participates in team meetings, ongoing training, and collaboration.
• Collaborates and shares information to improve patient care.
• Identifies spiritual care plans and goals and documents and maintains shared resources.

Qualifications

• Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Graduate theological, divinity, or pastoral care degree from an ATS-accredited seminary or university.
• Certification & Licensures: Ministerial Standing, oversight, or equivalent with a recognized ecclesiastical body (National Conference on Ministry to Armed Forces or by the Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches).
• Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience providing spiritual care to people of many different faiths and secular values.
• Required: Experience providing spiritual care in hospital settings to people from a variety of faith, cultural, and socially diverse backgrounds.
• Strongly Preferred: Formalized spiritual or pastoral care training provided by a faith community or ecclesiastical body.
• Required: Education, experience, and/or training directly related to issues of death and dying.
• Conversational in Spanish or Navajo, Sign Language, or a second language.
