Position Summary
Chaplains serve as the frontline staff embodying the mission and Christian ministry of MCHAP. They use their gifts and talents to support company employees and their immediate families.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Serves as a messenger and conduit for faith, mission, and purpose, interacting with companies, employees, and the community.
- Makes regular visits to company worksites to build trust and friendship, guided by a deep Christian faith.
- Provides confidential pastoral discussions for employees and their immediate family members, addressing issues such as family matters, divorce, illness, grief, and financial stress.
- Acts as a referral coordinator and provides specialized assistance to employees and family members with specific needs.
- Assists in planning, conducting, or attending funerals for employees and family members, offering support during the grief period.
- Supports laid-off or terminated employees during transitions to new environments.
- Facilitates or leads spiritual enrichment activities as appropriate.
- Represents MCHAP at client/customer meetings, especially for serious illnesses, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals.
- Participates in new employee orientations to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.
- Responds positively and assertively to other duties and services requested by executive leadership, within the scope of the Letter of Agreement.
Requirements
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and in an interfaith setting.
- Possesses the ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
- Effective listening and interaction skills, including the ability to deliver community presentations and handle sensitive situations.
- A high regard for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families.
- Skills to cope with stressful situations and document accurately.
- Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle, incorporating Christian values and beliefs in daily activities.
- A fundamental understanding of the Holy Bible and its application.
- A saving faith in Jesus Christ and active participation in a biblically based church.
- Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy with diverse groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of providing exceptional customer service.
- Emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Skilled in analyzing information, defining problems, and solving them.
- Understanding and learning new technology programs.
- Active state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance.
