Position Summary
Chaplains serve as messengers and conveyors of faith, mission, and purpose. They build relationships of trust and friendship with employees and their families, guided by their deep Christian faith. Their role includes providing pastoral care, referrals, and support in various scenarios such as illness, grief, and financial stress.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Serve as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose.
- Interact with companies, employees, and the community in a manner that exhibits character through personal and spiritual disciplines.
- Makes brief visits to company worksites regularly to build relationships and provide support.
- Visits employees or immediate family members at various locations to offer care and support, including hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, and family residences.
- Provides confidential pastoral discussions for problem issues, including family matters, divorce, serious illness, care of aging parents, death and grief recovery, parenting, financial situations, and other life issues.
- Acts as a referral service and coordinates specialized assistance for employees and their immediate family members with specific needs.
- May assist in planning, conducting, or attending funerals for employees or immediate family members, offering follow-up support and encouragement during the grief period.
- Works with companies to serve notifications of death and serious injuries to families and other employees, encouraging those impacted by various tragedies.
- Facilitates post-termination care for laid-off or terminated employees to foster a smooth transition to another work environment.
- Facilitates or attends spiritual enrichment activities, as an employee-led event is usually more beneficial.
- Provides literature and other resources to assist company employees with life issues.
- Represents companies to clients/customers where ministry services are needed, such as serious illness, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals.
- Participates in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.
- Responds positively and assertively to other duties and services requested by executive leadership, within the scope of the Letter of Agreement.

- Skills to deliver community presentations.
- Skilled in dealing with stressful situations and maintaining emotional stability.
- High regard for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families.
- Christian lifestyle and commitment to MCHAP's Ministry values.
- Understanding of the Holy Bible and its proper application.
- A saving faith in Jesus Christ and active participation in a biblically based church.
- Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse groups, provide exceptional customer service, and make administrative and procedural decisions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Ability to analyze information, define problems, and solve them.
- Knowledge of policy and procedures related to the position.
- Computer proficiency using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or other equivalent software.
- Active state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance.
