Position Summary
Chaplains serve as messengers and conveyors of faith, mission, and purpose, interacting with companies, employees, and the community to build trust and friendship. They provide pastoral care, referrals, and support for employees and their families, including addressing personal issues and facilitating spiritual enrichment activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Serve as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose.
- Interact with companies, their employees, and the community in a manner that exhibits character through personal and spiritual disciplines.
- Makes brief visits to company worksites regularly to build relationships of trust and friendship.
- Visits employees or immediate family members to express care and provide help, including discussing personal issues such as family matters, divorce, illness, and grief.
- Provides referral services and acts as a coordinator for specialized assistance.
- Assists in planning, conducting, or attending funerals for employees and immediate family members, offering support during the grief period.
- Facilitates post-termination care for laid-off or terminated employees to aid in their transition to new work environments.
- Represents companies to clients/customers, especially in times of tragedy, and facilitates spiritual enrichment activities.
- Participates in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.
- Responds positively and assertively to other duties and services requested by executive leadership, within the scope of the Letter of Agreement.
Requirements
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team and in an interfaith setting.
- Possesses the ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
- Effective listening and interaction skills with clients, employees, and their families.
- Skills to deliver community presentations and handle sensitive, confidential issues.
- High regard for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families.
- Emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for professional interactions.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information, define problems, and solve them.
- Understanding and interpretation of policies and procedures related to the position.
- Computer proficiency using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or other equivalent software.
- Active state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance.
