Job Summary
Staff Chaplain - Per Diem Rotating - BWH Spiritual Care Services
Availability for Overnight On-Call and Weekend Shifts Required
Responsible for providing spiritual care to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
Responsible For
- Counsel individuals or groups concerning their spiritual, emotional, or personal needs.
- Share information about religious issues by writing articles, giving speeches, or teaching.
- Respond to requests for assistance during emergencies or crises.
- Visit people in homes, hospitals, or prisons to provide them with comfort and support.
- Administer religious rites or ordinances.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field required, Graduate Diploma preferred.
- Licenses and Credentials: Two or more units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited training program, ACPE preferred. Preference for candidates who are board certified chaplains with APC, NAJC, or NACC.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a hospital/healthcare setting or relevant spiritual, ministry, pastoral, congregational, or other experience.
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Knowledge of various religious practices, health care ethics, behavioral health, trauma informed care, crisis response, and grief and bereavement counseling techniques with patients and families. Ability to work independently and excellent organizational skills. Proficient at documenting encounters in a patient’s electronic medical records and using Microsoft Suite. Proficient at multitasking and have a high level of problem-solving skills. Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
