About the Role
The Chaplain provides compassionate Spiritual Care within St Mary, supporting the spiritual and emotional well-being of patients, residents, participants, families, and colleagues. This role focuses on spiritual distress, grief support, crisis intervention, and guidance during major life changes. As a key member of the inter-professional care team, the Chaplain ensures the spiritual dimension of healing is integrated into the overall care experience.
Full time, 32 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Provide transformative Spiritual Care experiences, honoring the diverse beliefs and values of those served.
- Assess spiritual and religious needs, offer appropriate interventions, and document assessments, care, and outcomes.
- Participate in ethics consultation processes when needed.
- Collaborate with the Spiritual Care Manager to evaluate and improve care practices.
- Educate and support colleagues in recognizing and responding to spiritual distress.
- Facilitate interfaith or faith-specific prayer, meditation, worship, and sacraments, sometimes in partnership with community clergy.
- Promote programs that enhance workplace spirituality and maintain sacred spaces.
- Commit to ongoing self-care, growth, and spiritual formation.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Theology, Religion, Spirituality, or related field—or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years of Spiritual Care experience, including CPE training.
- Board Certification (APC, CASC, NACC, NAJC) strongly preferred.
- Ability to develop programs supporting spiritual needs across diverse populations.
