About the Role
The Trinity Health PACE Chaplain serves as a clinical spiritual-care provider who supports patients, participants, families, and staff by addressing spiritual distress, grief, crisis situations, and major life transitions. As an integrated member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the chaplain assesses spiritual needs, delivers individualized care aligned with diverse beliefs, documents interventions in the medical record, and contributes to holistic care planning. The role also includes developing and improving spiritual-care programs, educating staff, promoting workplace spirituality, facilitating religious practices in collaboration with community faith leaders, and maintaining sacred spaces. This position supports two facilities—Mercy LIFE of Chester County in Coatesville, PA and Mercy LIFE Norristown in Norristown, PA—typically requiring two days at each site, plus visits to nursing homes, hospitals, and participant homes.
Responsibilities

- Consistently demonstrate (lead by example) TH PACE Values to all internal and external customers (participants, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues).
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, propagating a calm environment throughout the office.
- Execute assignments in a culture that is shared and collaborative across all divisions within TH PACE.

- Provide opportunities regarding corporate and individual worship for participants, families, and staff.
- Visit with participants/caregivers at the Center, hospital, nursing home, or in their own homes to address spiritual needs.
- Consistently anticipate the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the patient, family, and fellow associates; demonstrate initiative in offering assistance and strive to provide superior service by exceeding expectations.
- Provide leadership for worship services, memorial services, bereavement activities, and Bible study groups according to the varied needs and interests of the participants.
- Provide religious celebrations for participants of all denominations and respect the religious needs of each individual.
- Participate in center surveys and, when necessary, develop a plan of correction for department deficiencies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, or a related field, including 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education.
- At least one (1) year of chaplaincy experience, preferably in a medical or long-term care setting.
- Board Certified chaplain preferred; Board-eligible considered. A combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
- Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle.
- Ability to serve as an active member of a collaborative team and articulate the spiritual needs of participants as well as the role of the chaplain.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Strong conflict-management skills, high decision-making quality, multitasking ability, and flexibility to adapt to ongoing change.
- Ability and skills to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the organization in line with our mission, vision, and philosophy.
