About the role
The Salvation Army is hiring a Chaplain for the Haven of Hope Community Center. The position is immediate and part-time, with flexible hours including evenings and weekends. The Chaplain will report to the Community Center Director.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Haven of Hope program staff to provide emotional, social, and spiritual services to participants, clients, and families.
- Plan, organize, and deliver pastoral care services and devotional times during music & arts and recreation programs.
- Deliver spiritual programming such as Bible study, prayer meetings, and Celebrate Recovery.
- Engage with program participants and build relationships.
- Provide spiritual support to seasonal program participants and assist with community assistance as needed.
- Identify and address religious concerns of program participants and the surrounding community.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Formal ministry education preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a ministry position.
- Comfortable engaging and evangelizing with the community.
- Ability to initiate building relationships.
- Professional attitude and approach to problem-solving.
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Valid PA Driver’s License and eligibility for The Salvation Army’s insurance.
- Completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse.
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
