Chaplain

The Chaplain

Provides spiritual support, guidance, and resources to patients and their families. Services include:

• Compassionate services to a diverse population encompassing all faiths
• Reflects the mission and philosophy of Suncrest
• Works as a contributing member of interdisciplinary group
• Interacts in inter-faith settings

Requirements

Qualifications include:

• Certificate of graduation from an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent)
• Master’s degree preferred
• One year of chaplain experience preferred
• Experience working with death and the dying
• Comfort level in inter-faith setting
• Minimum of 3 units of CPE
• MDiv or Masters in Theology required

Skills

Skills required include:

• Assesses spiritual needs of patients and families/caregivers
• Serves as liaison and support to community chaplains and spiritual counselors
• Maintains accurate records of spiritual care services
• Attends patient care conferences and interdisciplinary group meetings
• Provides consultation, education, and support
• Supervises spiritual care volunteers
• Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams
