The Chaplain
Provides spiritual support, guidance, and resources to patients and their families. Services include:
- Compassionate services to a diverse population encompassing all faiths
- Reflects the mission and philosophy of Suncrest
- Works as a contributing member of interdisciplinary group
- Interacts in inter-faith settings
Requirements
Qualifications include:
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent)
- Master’s degree preferred
- One year of chaplain experience preferred
- Experience working with death and the dying
- Comfort level in inter-faith setting
- Minimum of 3 units of CPE
- MDiv or Masters in Theology required
Skills
Skills required include:
- Assesses spiritual needs of patients and families/caregivers
- Serves as liaison and support to community chaplains and spiritual counselors
- Maintains accurate records of spiritual care services
- Attends patient care conferences and interdisciplinary group meetings
- Provides consultation, education, and support
- Supervises spiritual care volunteers
- Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams
