About the Role

The Interfaith Chaplain/Rabbi of Orchard Cove is a primary leader in creating a welcoming and affirming community for all residents, inclusive of many backgrounds and preferences. The Chaplain provides pastoral care through celebrations, grief, and hardships, transforming the experience of aging by offering vibrant options for educational, spiritual, cultural, and religious expression. This role leads weekly Friday night services, annual High Holy Day services, and all other Jewish holiday services, shaped by resident preferences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the interfaith chaplain, focusing on the needs of residents and their families during life transitions, celebrations, grief, and hardships.
  • Provide support for staff in their daily celebrations and hardships.
  • Engage in “milieu chaplaincy,” maintaining a positive presence throughout the community at key events and in daily interactions.
  • Create and lead educational and spiritual programming that supports the spiritual life and needs of a diverse community.
  • Develop community practices and programs to mark joyous occasions and key celebrations.
  • Lead the annual memorial service and support residents, families, and staff through daily challenges and loss.
  • Foster conversations and gatherings to create a welcoming and inclusive community for individuals with a range of backgrounds and preferences.
  • Lead weekly Friday night services.
  • Lead High Holy Day services and other Jewish holiday services and programs.
  • Complete other assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Chaplaincy training and experience required.
  • Experience leading (and knowledge of) Jewish prayer services and life cycle ceremonies.
  • Rabbinic ordination strongly preferred.
  • Passion for transforming the experience of aging and helping older adults live their best lives.
  • Previous knowledge and experience working with elders and their families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility to meet assigned work and take on new challenges.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Ability to move around the office area.
  • Occasional need to move items up to 20 pounds.
  • Spends over 95% of time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposure to noise.
  • Protection from weather conditions.

Remote Type: On-site

Pay

$64,736.10 - $97,104.68 per year
