Overview
Employer paid benefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision. Hourly wage range: Min: $26.70 Max: $44.00.
Responsibilities
- Provides short term soul care in the Emergency Department and as needed on the units.
- Works in collaboration with a patient’s AREA MINISTER in service of the ultimate goal of a more whole person-centered hospital visit or stay.
- Captures significant elements of pastoral encounters and ensures EPIC documentation is timely and integrated into the patient’s plan of care.
- Reports to Soul Care Manager and during evenings, weekends, holidays and manager paid time off, also to the Nursing Supervisor as scheduled and needed.
- Affords assistance to department manager and/or Resilience Education and Peer Support (REPS) Lead in addressing employee secondary trauma in the event of a critical incident.
- Attends four (4) hours of professional chaplain training monthly.
Qualifications
- Written endorsement of the board of elders/session/council of a local congregation where applicant is a member (must be in good standing with home congregation and/or supervising denominational judicatory).
- Maintains relationships characterized by mutual support, open communication, trust, and respect.
- Able to assist patients, family, and staff in reflecting on their experiences from a theological or faith perspective without imposing personal bias.
- Able to assess and respond sensitively to cultural and religious diversity.
- Computer literacy commensurate with use of EPIC, electronic medical record for charting patient/family interventions.
- Flexibility with on-call scheduling to meet department needs including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to travel for specialized training appropriate to "best practice" of Soul Care.
- Past training in the areas of grief counseling, hospice volunteering, Critical Incident Stress Management, and Stephen’s Ministry should be noted within the application.
