Chaplain
About the role
As our Chaplain, you will serve as a vital spiritual leader and compassionate caregiver within our hospital community, providing essential spiritual counseling and support to patients, families, and staff. You will offer compassionate presence, support, and appropriate rituals, especially during times of crisis or grief, and collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for spiritual needs and integrate holistic care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct spiritual, religious, and existential care to patients, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure respect for diverse beliefs and integrate spiritual care into holistic treatment plans.
- Work with the spiritual care department to build a cohesive, spiritually grounded team; cover on-call and holiday shifts as scheduled.
- Establish respectful working relationships with staff and physicians across departments.
- Gather and evaluate relevant information for the holistic care of patients and their families.
- Develop and implement spiritual care plans, including crisis intervention, counseling, and assistance with religious/spiritual rituals.
- Provide spiritual care and counseling in response to referrals and through proactive rounding.
- Document assessments and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2,080 hours of experience in clinical chaplaincy upon hire.
- Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from a program accredited by ACPE or USCCB/CCA.
- Board certification as a chaplain (APC, BCC) or Certified Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education, or Catholic Chaplain certification, upon hire.

Pay
$22.51 – $31.79 per hour.
