How you’ll make an impact in this role
Guide patients, families, and staff through moments of emotional and spiritual distress, providing a grounded presence that honors diverse cultures and beliefs.
Perform sacred rituals, sacraments, and blessings to offer comfort and continuity of faith within the hospital and the broader community.
Partner with multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure spiritual care is integrated into the patient’s total healing journey.
Foster deep, supportive relationships across the ministry through intentional visitation and communication to reduce isolation and build a sense of belonging.
Mentor the next generation of spiritual care providers by sharing expertise and guidance with students and fellows in clinical training.
Minimum Requirements You’ll Need
- Licensure / Certification / Registration: Board Certification from the APC, NACC, CASC, or NAJC (or certification obtained within 2 years of hire, risking termination if not obtained within timeframe) is required.
- Education: Masters Degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field from an accredited school is required. 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE is required only if not board certified.
- Work Experience: 3-5 years of healthcare experience as a chaplain is preferred.
