About the role
Located in Chicago, Illinois at Rush University Medical Center, Department of Chaplaincy Services. Supports mission of the institution by providing timely, high quality spiritual care to patients, families, friends, and staff, providing in-service and student instruction; participating in scholarly activity; maintaining collegial relationships with other faculty/staff, and contributing to the larger community. Emergency Department unit assignment.
Responsibilities
- Provides spiritual care to neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients as needed or assigned according to department policies and standards.
- Provides 24-hour on-call as assigned.
- Chairs the Psychosocial Preparedness Committee and responds to other requests on related committee.
- Trains employees and staff of Rush and other area hospitals regarding psychosocial aspects of disaster.
- Provides staff support as needed and negotiated.
- Represents the department in leadership of ritual as requested and negotiated.
- Participates in faculty meetings.
- Participates in the life of the department.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited college/university.
- Graduate of an accredited theological school.
- Endorsement by faith community.
- Previous hospital experience.
- Emergency department or trauma center experience preferred.
- Certified Chaplain in the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC, NACC, or NAJC) or be eligible to apply for certification.
Pay
Pay range: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour.
Schedule
Full-time (1.0 FTE), Shift 1, 8‑hour schedule (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM).
