Primary Responsibility
Aid in the planning, supervision, and execution of the high ropes and low ropes courses at Camp Crowell. Adhere to Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital procedures for high adventure activities, industry standards, and relevant county/state guidelines.
Specific Duties
- Attend a two-day training at Camp Crowell in Early Spring, plus one additional training day per year.
- Training includes set-up, break down, course operation, safety orientations, knot tying, belay techniques, and rescues.
- Work at least 3 days each season (Spring, Summer, Fall).
- Assist the Course Supervisor in developing adventure course programming.
- Ensure proper assistance from volunteers and chaperones during program implementation.
- Learn, understand, and practice risk assessment/management through the course and camp.
- Ensure participant safety and consistently follow safety procedures.
- Complete required reporting to the Course Supervisor after each session in a timely manner.
- Maintain all high adventure equipment, keeping it clean, organized, accounted for, and reconciled after each session.
- Collaborate with all course/camp staff.
- Discuss any issues or concerns with adventure equipment, areas, or programs with the Course Supervisor promptly.
- Bring any concerns about participants or staff to the Course Supervisor.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
