About the Role

Cambridge Health Alliance is recruiting for a Chair of Pathology to join our vibrant, innovative health system dedicated to providing equity and excellence for everyone, every time. With locations across Boston's metro-north region, CHA provides innovative primary, specialty and emergency care to our diverse patient population through an established network of outpatient clinics and two full service hospitals. The Chair of Pathology provides overall medical and administrative leadership for the CHA Department of Pathology and Laboratories, with primary clinical emphasis on anatomic pathology, including surgical pathology and cytopathology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and operational leadership for the Department of Pathology and Laboratories
  • Serve as the CLIA-designated Laboratory Director for the Cambridge Hospital Clinical Laboratory
  • Assume full regulatory responsibility for compliance with all applicable federal and state laboratory requirements
  • Establish and oversee the laboratory's quality management system, including policies and procedures for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes
  • Maintain an active clinical practice in anatomic pathology as a core component of the role
  • Serve on departmental, CHA, and CHA committees as appropriate, including quality, safety, laboratory compliance, and other committees
  • Position carries a Harvard Medical School (HMS) appointment of Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with HMS appointment criteria

Qualifications

  • Active Massachusetts medical license
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)
  • Experience in surgical pathology and cytopathology, supported by strong diagnostic, consultative, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in surgical pathology and cytopathology, with strong diagnostic and consultative skills
  • Experience in laboratory administration, regulatory compliance (CAP, CLIA, AABB, Joint Commission), and quality management
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively across a complex, multi-campus health system

Pay

The full time compensation of $305,000-$445,000 is comprised of guaranteed base salary plus incentives.
