Chair of Dermatology

About the role

The Chair of Dermatology will lead the Department of Dermatology at Tufts Medical Center and the Tufts University School of Medicine. Reporting directly to the Dean of the Medical School/Chief Academic Officer, President of the Physician Organization, and the Chief Operating Officer of Tufts Medicine Health System, the Chair will oversee all academic programs and processes, including academic appointments and promotions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the dermatology training program remains an exemplary teaching program for dermatology residents and medical students.
• Provide a superb environment for faculty teaching and clinical practice.
• Ensure access to all referring physicians and departments at the Medical Center and external referring physicians.
• Organize optimal dermatology care from TMC's affiliates throughout the region.
• Build the practice infrastructure to enhance physician effectiveness and patient experience.
• Recruit and attract new dermatology faculty members to expand the scope of Department services.
• Communicate effectively with referring physicians and develop action plans to address their priorities.
• Represent TMC dermatology with affiliates and new partners of TMC.

Qualifications

• Rank of Professor or equivalent.
• Substantial record of publications.
• Management experience (e.g., Program Director, Division Director).
• Experience in building practice infrastructure.
• Personal charisma and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate and utilize influence.
• Experience with the business side of practice.
• Distinguished academic career with teaching as a priority.
• Built a program or division elsewhere.

Benefits

Tufts Medical Center offers a competitive salary range of $636,130.00 - $748,453.00 annually, with actual compensation determined during the selection process based on relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.
