About the role

The Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a Chairperson to lead the Department of Medicine. The Department oversees Divisions of Endocrinology, Rheumatology, General Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease and Pulmonary Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Effectively leads the Department toward excellence in teaching, research, patient care delivery, administrative services and community activities.
  • Communications: Communicates the mission, vision and values of the University, School and Department to faculty and staff.
  • Motivation: Motivates and develops faculty and staff by accurately assessing and addressing their strengths, weaknesses and developmental needs.
  • Championing: Champions new initiatives, assumes the risk and responsibility for the Department.
  • Assertiveness: Asserts own ideas and encourages others to do the same; gains faculty and staff support and commitment, motivates people to take action.
  • Professionalism: Acts professionally and responsibly at all times, within and outside of the University, contributing to a positive image of the Department, the School and the University.
  • Clinical: Oversees provision and management of direct patient care at ambulatory primary and specialty care sites.
  • Academic: Ensures adequate faculty effort, oversight, and support for programs of undergraduate and graduate medical education.
  • Organizational Development/Planning: Participates in strategic planning opportunities for expansion; fosters opportunities for contractual relationships with potential partners.
  • Administrative: Develops appropriate budget for the Department, monitors and manages the budget to ensure the attainment of fiscal targets.

Qualifications

  • D.O. or M.D. degree and being either AOA or ABMS Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Prior experience in management roles, academic and professional experience necessary to qualify at the rank of Professor (preferred) or Associate Professor.
  • Experience as principal investigator of federal, foundation or state grants preferred.
  • Valid NJ Medical License.
