Job Description

The University of Florida’s College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of Environmental and Global Health and Tenure/Tenure Track Professor or Associate Professor. The department seeks a dynamic leader whose key responsibilities include promoting department-wide excellence in education, scholarship, research, and service through recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding faculty and staff, deploying resources, and facilitating a positive culture.

Department Overview

The Department of Environmental and Global Health is a team of interdisciplinary experts committed to collaborative research, education, and service that focuses on addressing complex problems impacting the health and well-being of environments, animals, and humans at both local and global scales. The department offers academic programs including a PhD in Public Health with concentrations in Environmental Health and One Health, a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Environmental Health, and a Master’s in Health Science (MHS) in Environmental and Global Health with a Concentration in One Health. The department has faculty from various disciplines such as global health, social sciences, infectious disease, and environmental toxicology, with funding from multiple sources including state and federal agencies and foundations.

Salary is negotiable, commensurate with education and experience. Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of specialization from an accredited institution.

Preferred

The well-qualified candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, extramural funding, teaching and mentoring, and leadership consistent with the rank of associate professor or professor. Final determination of title and tenure readiness will be made at time of hire. Ideal candidates will be recognized as a current or emerging leader in a discipline aligned with the department’s focus, a track record building synergistic teams, relevant administrative or management experience, and a strong commitment to fostering collaborations both within and outside the institution. Demonstrated excellence in research and training essential.
