CFO
About the Role
Vaco is partnering with a growing, private equity-backed professional services company entering an exciting stage of growth. They are seeking a hands-on, commercially minded Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance function and serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO, executive leadership team, and private equity sponsor. This is an opportunity for a finance leader who enjoys operating in a midmarket environment, where they can remain close to the business, make decisions, build processes, and directly influence growth and profitability.
The CFO will have responsibility for the company's financial strategy, reporting, forecasting, cash management, and overall financial operations. The ideal candidate has previously worked with a private equity-backed or sponsor-owned company of similar size, preferably within a $25M-$100M revenue environment.

- Develop and execute the company's financial strategy in alignment with business and growth objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Establish appropriate financial KPIs and reporting metrics to measure business performance.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability, productivity, and overall financial performance.
- Serve as the primary finance partner to the company's private equity sponsor.
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for ownership and the Board.
- Develop meaningful analysis around revenue growth, margins, EBITDA, cash flow, working capital, and operating performance.
- Support Board meetings, lender reporting, and other sponsor-related requirements.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Build and maintain financial models to support strategic planning, acquisitions, investments, and growth initiatives.
- Develop rolling forecasts and provide visibility into future financial performance.
- Analyze variances between actual results, budget, and forecast and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Partner with business leaders to improve forecasting discipline and accountability.
- Oversee the outsourced accounting function and ensure timely and accurate monthly and year-end close processes.
- Ensure the integrity of the company's financial statements and adherence to GAAP.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including significant leadership experience.
- Prior experience serving as a CFO, VP Finance, or equivalent senior finance leader.
- Previous private equity-backed company experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working within a midmarket or smaller organization, ideally in the $25M-$100M revenue range.
- Professional services experience preferred; experience in other asset-light, recurring-revenue, or highly operational businesses will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience partnering directly with a CEO, Board, and private equity sponsor.
